Specialities

All aspects of hand and wrist surgery. Special interests in complex wrist arthroscopy, thumb base arthroplasty and percutaneous needle fasciotomy for Dupuytren’s Contracture. All types of hand and wrist trauma, including complex fracture dislocations.

Local: Personal Tutor for medical students at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Educational Supervisor for T&O Registrars. Previously UHS Clinical Governance Lead and HR Lead.

National: Elected Council member Royal College of Surgeons of England. Selection Design Group (National Recruitment) for ST3 Trauma & Orthopaedics. British Orthopaedic Association Diversity Panel. Founder of W.ORTH for Women in Orthopaedics (facebook and X).

Research: Laura is passionate about encouraging diversity into surgery, particularly women in Trauma & Orthopaedics, and has published and presented Internationally on this topic.

Teaching: Interviews, teaches and examines Brighton Medical students. Teaches FRCS hand courses (King’s, Imperial, ORUK). Supervisor for Masters in T&O (BSMS and Oxford University).

Personal Interests

Laura is married with two young sons and loves living on the South Downs within walking distance of beautiful scenery, friendly country pubs and elegant Vineyards.
